Notice the hearts? Many of the old homes in Dayton Virginia had hearts displayed cleverly around the property or on the houses. Dayton sits in the center of the Shenandoah Valley and they clearly take that to heart. All around town there are banners and fliers that say—Welcome to Dayton the heart of the Shenandoah Valley.

I love old homes! They make my heart sing 🙂
I knew that! I knew you liked these houses. I have lots more to show so I guess I’m smitten with them too.

I love the homes of southern Virginia. My family is from Marion … just about as southern Virginia as you can get!
It is so pretty and I can’t get enough of it. The drive through that valley is like none other. I’m fond of all our states but the South is home for me.

They are very charming. I love the red one!
Me too! I bet you have some pretty ones your way as well. In fact–you have a charming home and a classic design for our area.

I just love the trim work. Great post
I want to get all my old photos off the puter before I start putting Spring 09 on here. I have a gazillion pretty houses. I can’t stop taking pictures of all the details. They don’t make them like they use to unless you want to pay for it. All that craftsman work is high dollar.

They look so friendly and – well homely Anna. Painters must be a good profession though with all that woodwork.
Homely is a good word. Phillip, we do have our big cities with lots of lovely buildings but that’s not me. I like to be sorta in the country. My town is just the right size and there is a city close by if I need it. If I had all my wishes granted, we’d live by the sea too. Instead, that is a 4 hour drive headed East.
