I grew up 3 miles from where this ship is docked. Makes me homesick!
Awww, I’m glad you can remember fondly. I do wish I could attend the Azalea festival this year. Wilmington is a star in the pride of NC.

I’m sure he would love this framed Anna. Ships Cook – sorry reminded me of Steven Seagal in Under Siege, My Father was on the Queen Elizabeth battleship mainly in the Far East. He won’t talk about it much as they were repeatedly attacked by Kamikaze and I don’t think he likes to recall it.
Our dad’s wouldn’t talk about it either. Most of what I know was learned while going through his military papers after he passed away. They were very brave.

    Only one word Wow.
I’m really proud of this shot! My dad’s brother’s name is listed onboard that ship. He died in WW2. All the men who were from NC and died in that war are listed on a wall inside. My dad was in the signal corps and helped break the codes. As you know, my family has a rich history with the military. MrD’s dad was a cook in the Navy for over 20 years. MrD lived on Navy bases as a kid growing up. He loved it but then he chose the Air Force and made a career out of it.

I may frame this picture and give it to MrD to put in his office.
