Gardening by Letter

This project is closed for new sign-ups. Please scroll to the end for updates as each person recieves their package of cards. Thank you to all who signed up.

I have a really fun idea. I’m actually a good organizer. I volunteer myself to collect the information and set this idea in motion. Some of you will get really creative with this and we’ll have loads of fun. A button will be made like the one above and you’ll be recognized as participating in the Gardening by Letter project.

I miss writing and would love to send out a card that maybe I’ve made or bought. I’m drawn to flowers and the such—so I’m naming it The Gardening Letter project. After picking a pretty card or writing a lovely garden letter….I might choose to include a packet of seeds, a dried flower, a small handkerchief, bookmark, gift certificate for free stuff,  or anything you can send in a envelope. The only rule is that you must keep to a standard card size envelope. Keep it to gardening, flowers, and well…you get it.

Here is how it works—I collect the addresses of the bloggers who want to participate. Once a month I’ll chose a person/persons as the recipient of that months collection of gardening letters or cards. We need at least 12 people to get started and the more the merrier. I’ll verify the addresses or PO Box.

Entries will end March 1st, 2009

Here is what we are going to do.

1. Send me your address by the link at the top of my page. It goes through wordpress and ends up in my inbox. I’ll contact you by email with a PO Box where to send the cards.

2.  Mail the cards to my PO Box. This protects you from everyone but me;) I send them out to the name/s of those selected for that month. They get to open a box full of Gardening Letters and then post about their goodies.

3. Sign your card with an online name or your real name as you get to choose. Do not put your return address on the envelope unless you want the recipient to have it.

Enter by March 1st to be included!!! I’ll keep a running tally of the numbers that have signed up. I’ll post that number daily.

I look forward to hearing from you!

Gardening by Letter will start the 15th of March if we get enough people to sign up. The cards will be sent according to the order in which I receive your address. So the first person to sign up—will be first on the list to get a card. I’ll be last so you don’t think I’m doing it for me. The project will run for one full year.

Start signing up!!!! Click the–contact me—at the top of the home page of my blog.

Please share this idea with those you think would like to participate.

I have made a category for this project. It’s on my sidebar. Once the project starts, I’m make the category a page so you can check it for updates and track the progress.

This project is closed for new sign-ups. I will list the card recipients as they post about the project. Each month, someone receives a package of cards from all the others who signed up for this project. Please visit the ones who chose to post about their goodies and see what came their way.  A link is provided for those who included a post. We are behind so all should be posted my Feb. 2010.

If you do not mind I would like to do it too even if I live in Sweden. If you do it again. I saw it at Jan´s place.

I sure will and thanks for faving me on blotanical. I appreciate it. I’m glad you want to be a part of this fun. It’s a really talented group. They’ve given some beautiful things. I’ve been blessed in sending out each month’s recipient.

I’d love to participate Anna. Of course, my cards will be handmade. I’m guessing that will be okay??
Yes,! wonderful…..I know the cards you send will be awesome! Some of my readers might not know that your trade is designing cards and the papers that go with them. They will be excited when they hear that. Of course we want your handmade treasures.

  7. Ann says:

Can I join in? Sounds like lots of fun! Will send you my contact info.
Yes, I got your addy and very happy to include you in the fun.

  8. Hi gang! We have 9 people signed up so far. That is awesome! Keep it up!

  9. This sounds like so much fun and will be so interesting! I would like to participate! I’m not quite sure how it all works, because I can be so dense sometimes, but I’m sure you’ll lead us through it. 😉 Count me in!
You name is added and so glad you joined.

Your part is easy. All you have to do is buy a card for however many people join. Once a month you’ll send me a card. The first of every month, I’ll collect them. I’ll get my address out to everyone on March 1st.

Depending on how many people sign up will determine if one or two people receive cards that month. The order in which people receive is determined by the date you sign up. The first one or two on the list will be the first to receive their card. We have people from all over signing up.

I’ll post the list daily and a link to your blog.

  10. VP says:

Oooh what fun – count me in! It sounds similar to some stitchery postcards I’ve seen others join in with, but one especially for gardeners is soooo much nicer 🙂
Thank you! I have participated in them and loved it! It will be especially awesome when our turn comes to receive.

I’ll be at your friendship dinner party this Saturday!

Awesome Phillip and I got your addy. Some people never get mail from across the pond. I know I never have. I look forward to it. So nice to have people from all over the world.

  13. Catherine says:

  14. Jared says:

Kind of like Secret Santa, which I loved doing in college. Count me in!

  15. jodi says:

I think this is a lovely idea; and I’ll even get my act together and get something ready and send it to you SOONER rather than later, because later I’ll be busy, and then things get put aside and the housework isn’t done and….;-)
So long as I don’t have to DRAW anything. I can’t draw, only in words.
OH goodie jodi!!! Seems like this is a hit. Yeah for us! I wonder how many will sign up. It seems that once a month shouldn’t be a burden on anyone and the recipient will be so blessed. Thank you for signing up. I’ll reveal the first person who signed up tomorrow.

  16. I hear my email ringing—this is good news!
