Store front seasonal landscaping to attract customer traffic

How to Increase customer foot traffic with store front seasonal landscaping

Have you ever wondered how to increase customer foot traffic with store front seasonal landscaping? I offer you this example which sets the mood before the customer enters the store. Showing the customer that first impressions are important starts with the store front landscaping.

Colorful annuals and bright textured greenery will enhance the look of your business and get the customer in the buying spirit. What is a buying spirit? One that starts with a good feeling about the place. One that draws the customer through the door. After all, you have to get them in the door to sell them something.

Your budget for retail landscaping should be between $500 to $1,000 dollars per season for front beds of this size. These beds belong to June DeLugas Interiors in Clemmons, NC.

Architectural features, potted arrangements, ground plantings, and attractive mulch are the rule for retail landscaping projects.

These Foxtail ferns are set off by placing them in this statue fountain. The light green against the weathered concrete is both eye catching and calming. Makes you feel relaxed as you anticipate your shopping experience. Splashes of color dot around at every level.

We want the customer to window browse as they pass on the sidewalk. Get them to look at the landscaping and next they’ll be peering in the windows. That’s what I created with DeLugas’ Christmas store front displays.

I wasn’t going to miss this chance to let the flowers grow between the fence pickets. Makes folks smile as they cross over the threshold. It’s just one last chance to appreciate the business before they speak with a salesman. Almost everyone looks down when they open the front door.

There needs to be varying heights as done here with the Popcorn grafted shrub rose. There is another store front landscaping idea beyond and I’ve planted two roses to mark the beginning and ending of this cottage fairyland setting.

One topiary rose on each end of the property helps to mark the territory.

Both topiary rose trees are coming back in bloom after about 3 weeks of rest. They will cycle off and off until frost.

Don’t forget that under the awning and further back toward the store–you’ll have unique sun requirements. I’ve used begonias and impatiens for the shadier needs. They still pack non stop color and come in attractive colors and textures. Angel Wing begonias are fabulous for this instance because some store fronts have both harsh sun and shade as a challenge.

A major challenge for store front landscaping ideas is the need for tall plants that flower throughout the growing season. I addressed that issue with a cleome cultivar. They do not seed and achieve drawing the eye upwards toward the window.

A gate that leads to the window beyond this setting was placed as so because the owner’s list of services was painted on the glass. Customers might miss this information if it weren’t for the clever direction your eye takes as you admire the flow of the flowers.

Every angle was considered when it came to drawing the customer in the door.

Six packs of annuals are the focus for  this container arrangement idea. Don’t be boring. Use two different varieties.

Softscapes, hardscapes, texture, and color are all used to create June DeLugas Interiors store front curb appeal.

I’m sure you’ll agree. This is a place you’d feel would take care of your questions. They would be more inclined to give you personal service. That’s exactly how June wants you to feel. Creating Curb Appeal for June DeLugas Interiors

Creating curb appeal for June Delugas Interiors  is one of the prettiest feathers in my cap. I’m proud to have her in my portfolio of store fronts created by Flowergardengirl. June DeLugas is the premiere  interior decorator for the Parade of Homes, local and regional home builders, and is sought after for her award winning decorating and faux painting, as well as her extraordinary taste in furniture, artwork, lighting, window treatments, plantation shutters, carpeting, and accessories.

She respects and appreciates what her customer wishes and I very much enjoy designing outdoor spaces for her home and shop. June is known for reinventing indoor spaces using antiques and new while faux painting and adding textures to create comfortable unique spaces in every room of the home or office. When setting out to fit her personality with her landscaping, I added new cultivars with old favorites. Texture and charm had to marry with antiques, statues, and the wrought iron gates already placed in her store front garden area.

Every one of my clients is different and much appreciated but designing curb appeal for a designer took some extra effort to make sure there was enough wow power without causing competition for the beauty going on inside. Decorating for a decorator means you must play it up and calm it down at the same time. You have to create a smile on the patron’s faces before they even enter the store. June’s store is flavored with old European, shabby chic, antiques, old garden style, and modern working in harmony which is her trademark style. This is how she successfully reinvents the client’s own pieces with an updated look and feel.

I love the way the store front cottage garden came to life as my design and 40 years of plant experience celebrated the personality of June DeLugas Interiors. I am thrilled she likes it and love the comments coming my way. It feels good when you feel you read your customer correctly. Those of you in the flower business will recognize my use of old and new varieties.

Some of the surprises which aren’t so apparent just yet—is the ‘Miss Ruby’ butterfly bush in a planter, the nasturtium blooms, purple ruffled basil, tall cleomes on each side of the door, and old fashioned ageratum. One of June’s favorite colors is blue and I’ve dotted it throughout the plantings—that will truly make those iron gates stand out this summer.

Thank you June for letting me create curb appeal for your store and I look forward to being at your home this week. I’m already working on the views out your windows ;) .

Come out tomorrow to June DeLugas Interiors for her Susan Komen breast cancer benefit. There will be everything from book signings to massages. Wine tasting and goodies to encourage you to linger and make new friends. See you there! May 3rd, 2011 from 10am to 8pm.

June Delugas Interiors, Elegant Garden Decor

June Delugas Interiors, Inc of Clemmons, North Carolina is an environmentally friendly and eco-savvy business. On my search for elegant garden decor, I discovered a treasure trove of ideas from this very well known and talented designer June Delugas. Vintage chandeliers, fabrics, dishes, art, furniture, pillows, and other items showcased in these photos can be found in her cleverly decorated studio on Old Glory Road.

June has a quiet and confident demeanor and is well respected in the community. I’m going to give her a blank check one day and let her transform my home and porches in to that modern shabby chic with soft colors and a splash of the unexpected. That’s my style but June can do anything. While we were interviewing, there were at least 5 projects being coordinated.

June has been in the design business for 30 years. Helping her are Elizabeth Lovette, also 30 years experience, and their onsite artist Leigh Ann Alexander. Jennie Hess is the marketing manager.

Vintage chandeliers, silver candlesticks, and botanical prints are finding their way to the elegant garden shed. As are upholestered furniture pieces, pottery, and vintage mirrors which you’ll find throughout the studio. The wreath above the mantel is adorned with Blue Ridge Pottery™ made right here in NC. When possible, June uses recycled, reclaimed, gently used, eco-friendly and manufactured in NC in her designs.

The Santa Claus can be custom made with a favorite old coat, jewelry, grandma’s fur coat–think of the memories or special pieces you could incorporate.

As shown on the wreath, Blue Ridge Pottery is famous here in NC. It was once called the poor man’s pottery. Today it is much sought after.

Original art pieces laminated on recycled cardboard. The theme of blackbirds appropriate for spring 2011. Your shabby chic or sunroom would like very much to have this art.

On the top of everyone’s wish list would be a repurposed or reinvented china hutch and buffet. June’s on-sight artist hand painted this piece bringing it to the modern distressed and re-appreciated style.

Old and new vases are tucked high and low. Accent tables displaying vintage and unique lamps of all sizes are plentiful.

This is day 1 of the Elegant Garden Decor tour. Sunday, we’ll see a reproduction antique piece perfect for storing seeds, seed packets, and dried blooms. All–from June Delugas Interiors, Inc of Clemmons, NC.
