A New Garden Television Program! Really?
We all wish for a new quality gardening television program, right? What if you had the chance to tell producers what we really want? Well we do. We have the ear of a major network and I’m working overtime to give him an ear full.
Please go to the sidebar and ‘like’ our Facebook page at A Garden Around the Corner. Yes, it’s created around the hit movie, You’ve Got Mail and The Shop Around the Corner. I purchased the url over a year ago and dreamed of just such a show. I want a feel about this show that says–little shop/garden around the corner. Your neighbor, your town, your community has a garden to share and I want to see them all. Like reading a good book. We want the whole series. Right?
I want to tell the story of the real gardener. There are some beautiful talented gardeners in my community of online friends. I want to show them off. Help us to make that a reality and ‘like’ our Facebook page. Right now a major network is watching us. We have a chance.
Gardening shows have all but disappeared from the screen. Let’s not let that happen. Let’s bend the producers ears and tell them we want to see stories about gardens and gardeners. Don’t we? You tell me. Leave a message here and go ‘like’ the Facebook page.
Thank you!

I’ve been wondering the same… what happened to the G in HGTV? I garden everyday! The last time I bought a house was 9 yrs ago and before that was 28 yrs. Come on HGTV, satisfy your best viewers!!!
I no longer watch HGTV. Nothing on there interest. I miss the gardening shows and the craft shows. There are many of us who would love to see a good down home gardening show. I pray that you can do this Anna. There is nothing on tv to watch anymore. HGTV has gone too uptown and the majority of people who use to watch are just downhome folks.
Shirley, I hope you will give Late Bloomer a try. This is exactly what I am doing with my gardening web series. Web episodes can only be 5-7 minutes max, so there’s a ton of material I have to leave out of every episode, so it would be great to be on TV. In the meantime, I hope you and Anna and all the gals below longing for a real life garden experience (and I’m a first-time gardener) will check it out. I have 15 episodes online! Here’s the link for Late Bloomer. Start at the bottom, which is episode 1 and work your way up! And please send me a comment if you do! Thanks! http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL7C4BD0DA41DD3FFF&feature=plcp
I have stopped watching HGTV but would tune in for a show such as this.
Please try my show on the web, Late Bloomer, http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL7C4BD0DA41DD3FFF&feature=plcp
And send me a comment if you do! Thanks!
Thank you for directing me to your show. I very much enjoyed it as I watched Episode 15. I am a Master Gardener too and do vegetables organically as in your video. Stop in and see my blog sometime too, at, http://gardenwalkgardentalk.com. My post on Sunday is Insects and Pumpkins, Not Always a Happy Pair. You will see many bees and a pretty happy pumpkin plant.
I’m so glad I found this post. HGTV, If I see one more home design show I’m going to throw up!!! I used to watch your channel all the time, now I watch one show occasionally.
Bring back gardening shows and I’ll be back. Especially Gardeners Diary!!
I love the idea of a “real” garden show, one that focuses on actual gardeners with honest gardens…not gardens that are staged for the camera. I’m so glad I found your site–looking forward to exploring more!
I miss the old days of PBS’s Victory Garden when it felt as though the viewer was following an avid gardener around his or her back yard, learning helpful tips, gaining inspiration. I love it when gardeners share stories about their plants: Great-grandma’s roses handed down from one generation to another, the rubber tree started from stolen leaves and stem, the pear tree planted on the wedding day, the grapefruit tree planted from a seed found in fruit bought at the grocery store.
Would absolutely love to have garden shows back on tv!
I have written and called especially HGTV asking for some of these type of shows to come back, with no attention or action, I love your blog and comments and I only hope we could have as many shows as Building sows THANKS
I would love to see an honest to goodness garden show on “real gardens” and their gardeners. A show where gardens built by love over the years, not in “days” like current landscaping shows. I’ve got my toes and fingers crossed for you Anna ~ Mary Mirabal
I would be so thrilled to have a honest to goodness show on “real gardens” and their gardeners. Gardens that are built with love over years, not days. I’ve got my fingers and toes crossed that it can happen!!
I agree, we as gardeners are tired of people flipping houses and watching shows about people looking for a house to buy. Bring back the day of diggin in the dirt garden shows, when we watched and actually learned something new
Timothy, I definitely dig in the dirt in my garden show on the web, Late Bloomer. I hope you will check it out! Start at the bottom of the playlist (Aprile 22) and work your way up to now. I’m a first-time gardener. http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL7C4BD0DA41DD3FFF&feature=plcp
