What is a side front porch? On this beautiful Southern home, you can see it on the left of picture and is a focal point of the home. Look more closely and there is an attractive and comfortable sitting area. It’s called a side front porch because there is no access from the main entry to the home. You can be nosey and watch the activity in the neighborhood but folks don’t feel invited up to sit a spell.

A set of double doors opens this private porch to the rest of the home. If you will, it’s a private exposed porch. It gives the owner a chance to catch the breezes but not attract attention from passerby’s intruding glances. Due to the side porch ceiling width, it stays dark and cool. Looks so pleasant doesn’t it?
