The Hugely Popular Blotanical.com

butterflies-046Blotanical is getting hugely popular. I used to be able to read all my favorite blogs and then visit the new folks in the same night. Stuart at Blotanical.com is attracting blogs to his site like butterflies to a lantana and buddleia.

Are they signing up because of my Bronze Fennel pictures?

No, it’s probably just his great selection of blogs all over the world. But I have to tell you—-I can’t get through them all in one sitting. It’s more like half the week is spent checking up on those I’ve grown to know and then the other half of the week on new members.

There is always my Bronze Fennel if you get tired of reading good gardening blogs. He doesn’t just list gardening blogs……there is quite an assortment over there.

Stuart at Blotanical is from Down Under in Australia. I was just at his blog Gardening Tips “n” Ideas and he says it’s the middle of summer down there. It’s 10 degrees up here in NC.

  1. I love Lantana and I love butterflies. It is my birthday today and this is going to be my Happy Birthday Wallpaper. Thank you.

  2. I don’t go to Blotanical as often as I used to because I simply cannot keep up with all the blogs out there. I have my favourites that I visit regularly now that I’m back into my routine, and have ‘met’ some new ones, but there’s just no way we can get to all of them. And of course some aren’t necessarily of interest to all of us, but that’s the beauty; if we find one we don’t particularly connect with, someone else will like that one just fine, and we’ll find another one. Isn’t it great? It’s like reading magazines, or eating vegetables; there’s something for everyone.
Exactly! It’s such a big blog world and the internet is exploding. To me it’s like going shopping and every item is different. You don’t have to worry about wearing what someone else is wearing cause all blogs are different. They are different even if we are all talking about the same plant.

  3. Hi Anna,

You are so right on (I just had to say that!)…Blotanical has some very top notch bloggers. Excellent blogs, good people and a great deal of fun. Btw, when I say good people…I surely mean you! Gail
Thank you and right back at cha and some big hugs thrown in for good measure. I was overwhelmed last night at blotanical. I’ve never seen so many awesome and beautiful blogs. I could have stayed up all night……oh wait, i did stay up all night.

  4. Nice write-up for Botanical and gorgeous photos, as always… just the whiff of summer that I needed./Deb
Thank you. It just struck me the other day as I was at blotanical roaming through all the gardens that the place had really grown. More reading there than in the Library of Congress!

  5. It has become such an addictive pasttime for me Anna. :) Lovely way to meet gardeners from all over the world.
When I first started blogging, I never knew there were so many gardening blogs out there. I would probably still not know if it weren’t for blotanical. Gardeners are a sharing group and this is a way for us to share more of our gardens. MrD says I share too much info. He doesn’t read my blog for fear he is featured all over the web. OH, he’s not so worried really. He just acts like it.

  6. Hi Anna, I’ve visited it a couple times but can’t seem to navigate very well. I wish I had more time to explore it.

I don’t really have an order either. Sometimes I’m in the mood to read new blogs and sometimes my old favorites or new favorites. I do like picking post and watching my points accumulate. Kinda like watching a plant grow.

It’s impossible to do it all now that it’s so big which I think is a good thing. Most of my readers come from blotanical.

  7. Anna, I know what you mean about getting through all the wonderful blogs. I find if I read “posts from my faved blogs” most days I can keep up – but time to read new blogs is more difficult. I am a great fan of Blotanical because it helps to organise my reading. For me it is great that I am welcomed even though I don’t have a blog.

    Best wishes Sylvia (England)
We love you Sylvia! Don’t go anywhere as your comments are cherished. You have faithfully come to see me at all my blog changes. Thank you!

I guess one of the reasons for writing this post was just as you stated. We can’t get around to them all. And when I miss, I miss the person behind the blog. You get to know that person and want to see what they came up with on their blogs today. All of us bloggers want readers and are glad to see blotanical grow. It was bound to bust out of its seams with so many good blogs in one place.

  8. Thanks for the write-up Anna. Enjoy your star.
My pleasure. I will enjoy my star and thank you. I was over at blotanical.com last night and was amazed at the selection and had a blast meeting newbies. They don’t seem like newbies as some are professional gardeners but they are new to me. Congrats Stuart for having a no.1 site for gardening blogs.

  9. Blotanical blog visiting’s a good way of getting rid of the winter blues at the moment :)
Isn’t that the truth. Well we all want people to read our blogs and growing is the best way to make that happen.

  10. Great pictures. I so agree with you about the great job ocver at Blotanical though I still think navigation could be a bit more intuitive. But it is developing all the time and so good a way to discover new blogs.
I am enjoying seeing the new blogs. Some of the big names have joined the family. It amazes me that I learn something new every day. MrD wonders how in the world so many people can talk about plants forever. I guess I wonder that too.
